Business Skills Module: Modeling Business Processes

Goal

IT-consultants and SAP-consultants should develop understanding of business consulting and be placed in the position of breaking down as-is business processes and creating to-be concepts.

Examples of Use

Always when a consultant needs access to the technical level of the customer – from the user to the responsible technician; when an IT or SAP consultant should be used more (also) in business consulting; when IT/SAP consultants in a project can benefit from the thought process and work methods of a process consultant.

Contents

  • Business Consulting: active fields and current trends

  • What interests a CIO, what interest other decision makers, what interests do other stakeholders have?

  • Foundational principles of the business processes

  • Process improvement and redesign

  • Methods of process modeling of the as-is processes

  • Methods for creating to-be processes

Results

The participants understand how process consultants work and where the can connect their existing know-how and abilities. They are able to act as process consultants/business analysts. As IT/SAP consultants, they can better translate the customer’s technical requirements into business necessities and argue at the technical concept level in the language of the process owner and user.

Comment

The contents are trained using customer interviews and/or customer workshops based on standard examples or an example from the business experience of the participants. Prerequisite for this seminar are the contents of the Facilitation module.
